Last year, the Portland Cherry Bombs FC were an idea: build a women’s soccer club as fearless, creative and unmistakably Portland as the city behind it.

In 2026, we lit the fuse.

We Built a Team

More than 150 players competed for the opportunity to become a Cherry Bomb. From that group, we assembled our inaugural roster of talented players representing different ages, backgrounds and levels of experience—and gave them a place to compete, develop and be seen in the USL W League.

We Built a Home

We brought summer soccer to Southeast Portland and transformed Lents Park into our home ground. Packed sidelines, loud supporters and a community ready to show up for women’s soccer.

We Built a Matchday Unlike Any Other

Cherry Bombs matches became part soccer, part concert and part neighborhood festival. Mary T. Cherry patrolled the sidelines. The Portland Opera joined the celebration. Local vendors served up cherry-inspired food and drinks. Fans brought the noise.

It was fiercely competitive soccer—with Portland turned all the way up.

We Built Something With Purpose

Our inaugural season was grounded in supporting women and nonbinary members of our community. Through our partnership with Planned Parenthood Columbia Willamette, a portion of every jersey sold helped support access to reproductive healthcare.

Host families also opened their homes to players arriving from across the country and beyond, creating a community that extended far beyond the pitch.

We Built a Club Portland Made Its Own

We combined women’s soccer with punk-rock spirit, fearless individuality and the creative culture of the Rose City. Players felt the support. Fans found a new club to call their own. Together, we proved that the Cherry Bombs belong here.

One team. One home. One unforgettable first season.

And we’re just getting started.
